Fords legendary F series trucks began in 1948 with the first series production from 1948-1952. Beating Dodge, Chevy and Studebaker this series truck was the first to start production following WWII. And quickly became the most popular truck in America this timeless classic is the end cap of the first series. This series was labeled the “Bonus Built” series as Fords advertising campaign was “Built stronger to last forever.”
With its 235-ci flathead V-8 engine producing 105 HP, this truck had plenty of power and toughness for its day.
Prior to WWII amenities really didn’t exist in pickup trucks. This all changed with the F series trucks offering trim options including sun visors, an instrument panel that was easy to read, an ashtray, a taller cab for better visibility and a single-piece windshield. The bench seat featured coil springs for better comfort for three adult occupants. Ford installed rubber insulated bolts, pads and bushings to reduce road noise and provide a smoother ride
In 2012, this truck went through a frame off restoration, with the addition of 20” chrome wheels, chromed grill and chromed bumper. All rust was cut out and replaced with new metal. Close enough to original, and not over the top this classic you can actually drive around town.
