In 1938 the romantic roadster was  gone; the rumble-seat models were also in their last year.  Styling was a warmed over version of the 1937’s.  Fords grill/hood section became more bulbous, and the Standards were saddled with a fulsome swept-back grill.  This car was originally the 81-A,  sporting the largest 85 horsepower flathead V-8 engine complete with  HP Edelbrock heads, a high-rise Sexton intake and air cleaner supporting dual Stromberg 97 carburetors. In the late 70’s it had undergone a complete nut and bolt frame off restoration including a professional paint job.  All wood graining was done, and chrome was completely restored the stainless and glass is in excellent condition.  Original wiring harnesses were replaced with modern wiring at the time of restoration.  New glove box, front floor mat and kick panels.  Its interior was finished better then when it rolled of the showroom floor new.  This car was a late 70’s Concourse and Salt palace, award winning show car. With only 64 miles since the complete restoration it was parked till it was found and uncovered in February of 2013. It was rescued from the enclosed garage where it had spent the last 31 years under a car cover. It recently underwent a complete “Restoration-Tune-up” including new battery, plugs, all oils and fluids. This car is ready to drive away or trailer to the next show.
